I am speculating here without circumstantial evidence, except to see a pattern, that the intentional denial of climate change was actually meant to speed up the breakdown. Moscow as the Third Rome, the new seat from where the Eurasian continent would be steered and kept safe for white Christians in an area that could survive a climate catastrophe unlike the dark skinned global south.
