Dear Umair, thank you as always, The situation is grim, very grim, apocalyptically so. Yet it is darkest just before the dawn. By 2030 the world will have changed unrecognizably, no doubt. Do we still have a small trail out of the mess we got ourselves into? I think so. Millions of people are imagining this escape right now and that movement is becoming more powerful and soon more visible. Think of a mycelium spreading and connecting and soon popping up everywhere, each with a part of the solution, each with a new story of hope. Mine goes like this: in the climate narrative we are barking up the wrong tree with our limited rational minds. Everyone understands that the most important role for a balanced climate and a thriving planet is water. And our intelligent planet has evolved vegetation over millions of years to dance with water in a way it creates conditions conducive to life. And we have been destroying these ecosystems at a huge scale. So here is the solution: if we can unleash a regenerative revolution with upwards of a billion people starting to regenerate nature in their own place and switch to localized foodproduction, often in the form of agroforestry, we can calm extreme weather events and cool the planet within decades. All low tech, low capital interventions, but millions of them. Intrigued? Let's talk. The mess we made is mind-made, the solution and a wave of hope is also mind-made. If everyone starts creating their own little paradise, grow food, grow trees, fertile spongy soils, store precious water, we will be a happy species in no time again, thriving with simple abundance. Please watch this 3 minute video. Let's talk to create the great transition, we owe it to the generations ahead of us. With gratitude for all that you are doing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8B4tST8ti8
